Langtang Region Treks

Langtang Region is the 3rd most popular trekking destination in Nepal Himalayas. It lies in Langtang National Park, established in 1976, under the National Trust for Nature Conservation act by the Government of Nepal. Langtang National Park covers an area of 1710 sq. kms, extending over Nuwakot, Rashuwa & Sindhupalchok district of Nepal.

Langtang Region is blessed with pristine beauty, unspoiled nature, rich biodiversity, diverse landscapes, and snow-capped Langtang Himalayas. It is a very scenic, and most beautiful mountainous region. 

Langtang  to Kyangin Gumba Trek, Gosaikunda Lake Trek and Helambu Trek are the three major trekking routes in this region. Most of your trek days will be walking through bamboo and rhododendron forested hill and valleys, inhabitat to the Himalayan Pheasants, Deer, Bear, Monkeys and endangered Red Panda.

Tamangs and the Sherpas are the two main ethnic groups of peoples residing in this region, and their main religion is Tibetan Buddhism.

The main attraction of this region trek is Kyangin Gumba surrounded by the Langtang Himalayas on all sides, offering incredible views of Langtang landscapes and Himalayas. Gosaikunda Lake situated at the altitude of 4350m from sea level is a famous pilgrimage place for both Hindus & Buddhists. Kyangin Ri ( 4773m) & Tserko Ri ( 5033m) is the famous view point above Kyangin Gumba, offers 360 degree views of the mighty Langtang Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung (7234m), Langtang Ri (7205m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Langshisha Ri (6427m) & Shishapangma (8013m) of Tibet. 


Earthquake Devastation in Langtang Region
The Devastating Earthquake at 2015 April caused massive avalanches to Langtang Village which damaged the entire village. Several people lost their lives in the earthquake. Many other valleys in the region were hugely damaged due to the earthquake. Trekking trails were destroyed then. 


Is it safe to trek to Langtang Region?
Although, earthquake had caused huge destruction in the valley, everything is back to normal now. Trekking trails are being built, tea houses are built and opened.  Now this region is completely safe for trekking. However, you will still see the reminder of the disaster in the region. 


How to Get to Langtang Region?
Langtang Region Treks are protected by Langtang National Parks, and are easily reached in a day's drive from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. With a short drive out of the capital to Sundarijal, we could directly start to Langtang region via Shivapuri National Park, to Kutumsang, in two days which is a border to Langtang National Park. Major treks in Langtang Region starts from Dhunche & Syabrubesi, which takes about 5-6 hours drive north of Kathmandu. Despite being closer to Kathmandu, this region is still a remote, and quieter trekking destination.
