West Nepal is the least developed mountain area of Nepal. West Nepal including Far West Nepal are isolated, unexplored and pristine in nature, and incredible landscapes. This region is wild, remote and rarely visited by western trekkers. West Nepal Region has relatively poor infrastructure, scarce resources, and peoples living in this region are poor, and marginalized compared to those living in other regions in Nepal.
Major national parks of the mountain region of West Nepal are, Api Nampa Conservation Area, Upper Dolpo District Area, Shey Phoksundo National Park, Rara National Park, Khaptad National Park.
Most of the trekking in these regions have to be fully supported by a trekking support team, staying in tented camps and requiring a special trekking permit to trek in this region. Trekking trails are remote, hard to navigate but wild and wonderful trails. This region is full of ancient Tibetan cultures, oldest monasteries and Yak herders. Far West Nepal is a gateway to the pilgrimage trip to holy Lake Mansarovar, and Mt. Kailash in Tibet.
Best time to trek to West Nepal:
The best months to trek to Western Nepal is from March to Late October. From Nov onward, it often snows in this region, so the trail involving high passes gets frequently blocked so we would not be able to trek to this region after Nov till to February.
