The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package is an overland road trip to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. It's a sacred pilgrimage location for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon followers. The Kailash Mansarovar trip starts in Nepal and travels through Kerung into the Tibetan Plateau. And the total time for this Mansarovar Yatra is 14 days from Kathmandu.
Included in this Kailash tour package are visa and permit assistance and guided transportation by coach. Plus all meals, beautiful views of both the Himalayan and Tibetan Mountains and religious activities such as dipping in the sacred waters of Lake Mansarovar.
So this Kailash Mansarovar package will allow travelers to experience the cultural and spiritual side of the journey. And it's all while having a comfortable Mount Kailash tour with excellent logistics at high altitude. So this Kailash Yatra package is an excellent value for those wishing to complete the sacred Kailash pilgrimage from Nepal in 2026 and 2027.
Mount Kailash rises to 6,638 meters on the plateau of Tibet and attracts pilgrims from all over the world on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. For the Hindus, it is the sacred abode of Lord Shiva, and for the Buddhists, it is the abode of Buddha Demchok. The mountain also holds reverence for the Jains and the followers of the Bon religion. The mountain lies near the origin of the four major rivers of Asia: the Brahmaputra River, the Sutlej River, the Indus River, and the Karnali River, which joins the Ganges River.
Kailash has also attained the distinction of being the only mountain in the world that no climber has ever managed to climb to the top of. Professional climbers have made many attempts to conquer the peak of Kailash, but none have been successful. For the locals, only the pure of heart are worthy of touching the top of the mountain. For this reason, Mount Kailash has come to be known as the center of the universe.
The walking trail around Mount Kailash is 52 kilometers long and takes most tourists three days to complete. Tibetan pilgrims complete this same journey in just a single day! Your Kailash Yatra starts at Darchen at 4,650 meters. On the first day, you'll be walking 12 kilometers to Dirapuk at 4,860 meters, and this takes about 5 to 6 hours. This is also when you'll catch your first glimpse of the breathtaking north face of Mount Kailash.
Day two is the most challenging day on your journey. This is when you'll be walking 22 kilometers from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk over 8 to 9 hours. This is the most challenging part because you'll be walking to the highest point on your journey at 5,860 meters at the Dolma La Pass. The height changes continuously on your journey, and you'll be walking at heights ranging from 4,600 to 5,650 meters. This is when you'll be rewarded with a view of the Himalayas, the raw beauty of Tibet, and even antelopes roaming at these heights.
Nearby, along the trail, is Dirapuk Monastery, which is over a thousand years old. Inside, there is a meditation cave of Milarepa, a saint who preached the virtues of simple living and contemplative thought. This is a Kailash trekking experience that requires a lot of physical fitness and acclimatization. Remember, everyone is affected by the thin air, so you have to breathe slowly and walk slowly. There is no need to worry if you encounter glaciers along the way, as they are safe and easy to cross. After completing the Kailash Mansarovar trip around Mount Kailash and visiting the sacred Lake Mansarovar, you will return to Darchen and drive back through Saga and Kerung to Nepal and finally to Kathmandu.
This Kailash Mansarovar Yatra known to many devotees simply as the mansarovaryatra combines physical challenge with spiritual awakening. You'll trek with Tibetan pilgrims, hear monks chanting in ancient temples, and even possibly meet wandering yogis. Wherever your interest lies, spiritual energy, beauty, or personal achievement, this Mount Kailash tour to "the center of the world" will be an experience you'll never forget. Contact us today to arrange your customized Kailash tour package for 2026 and 2027.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which is the journey to see the sacred mountain of Kailash and the holy lake of Mansarovar in Tibet, can be completed in 14 days. The first two days will be spent in Kathmandu obtaining necessary permits and preparing to travel.
After these two days, you will have 10 days in Tibet. This will include traveling overland from Kathmandu to Darchen, seeing the sacred lake of Mansarovar, and then completing all three days of the circumambulation around Mount Kailash (the 52 km kora). Finally, there will be two additional days of travel back to Kathmandu after you have completed your Yatra.
Unlike the Panch Kailash Yatra, which includes five sacred peaks, this Kailash Mansarovar tour entirely focuses on the single most sacred destination of the Himalayan world, Mount Kailash Mansarovar. Here is what you can plan for in this sacredKailash Yatra:
Is it possible to visit the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and also have a darshan of Mount Kailash? If you purchase a Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package, you can go for a darshan to the sacred sites that are relevant to the yatra. You generally will have the darshan at the southern base of the mountain, where you can make offerings, walk around (kora), and perform ceremonial acts in accordance with the prevailing culture.
This 2 weel Itinerary from Nepal in Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are designed for a traveler to have enough time to rest in the towns of Darchen and Chiu Gompa and complete a full circle (kora) of Mount Kailash. The kora is the most important event during the darshan.
Normally, the packages also offer you an opportunity to visit Lake Mansarovar. It's known as purifying to the soul. And performing the darshan around Kailash adds to the experience. Your guide will help with dates, times and types of rituals. Plus, you'll get the chance to take photographs. All the work necessary to complete the darshan is taken care of. So pilgrims can receive the full benefit of their spiritual experience. You don't have to worry about the details. All logistical arrangements, permits and transport are handled by the Yatra company. They take care of everything from Kathmandu and back.
The average Kailash Mansarovar Yatra cost for the 14-day package in 2026 and 2027 is $2,590 USD per person with us. This makes it one of the cheapest Kailash Mansarovar Yatra options available to actually take on a pilgrimage to visit Mount Kailash and the Himalayas via the road.
This Kailash Mansarovar Yatra price covers your complete Kailash Mansarovar tour package, including the travel permits for Tibet, a group Chinese visa, transportation from Kathmandu to Kerung, accommodation in guest hotels and guesthouses throughout the Kailash Yatra, three vegetarian meals per day, as well as an experienced tour guide and all support staff members throughout your journey. You will also be provided with all necessary logistics while Kailash trekking and completing the kora around Mount Kailash.
Note that the Kailash trip cost may vary depending on the number of people in your group, season of travel, and any other costs that may be incurred to cover your personal needs, such as gratuities. It may be to your benefit if you book as a group since these arrangements will provide the lowest Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package price available. Please make your booking as soon as possible to guarantee your place on this sacred Mount Kailash tour.
| Group Size | Cost Per Person (USD) | Duration |

| 2–4 People | USD 2,850 | 14 Days |

A pilgrimage around Mount Kailash is called a Mount Kailash Parikrama or Kora. It's sacred to the followers of the religion. A full kora consists of 52 kilometers. And most pilgrims will complete the Kailash Kora in 3 days.
The first day of the kora begins in Darchen. The pilgrim covers a distance of 13 kilometers to reach Dirapuk. And that allows for the first close view of the North Face of Mount Kailash. This view is often referred to as awe-inspiring. And it can move many pilgrims to tears.
The second day of the kora is by far the most difficult. It consists of climbing to Dolma La Pass at 5,630 meters. And that's the highest elevation of all three days and the entire Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Prior to reaching Dolma La Pass, you'll witness a sacred turquoise lake called Gauri Kund. It's believed to wash away sins when evil or negative actions are committed in your life. And just after passing over the pass, you'll descend to Zuthulpuk Monastery. But despite the fatigue in your legs, your spirit will feel as if it has come alive.
The final day of the kora is a relatively easy and peaceful walk back to Darchen. So your Kailash trekking journey is now complete with the closure of the Kailash Kora.
This sacred kora is considered the spiritual center of the entire Kailash Mansarovar trip. And everything that occurs along this journey is part of an entire Kailash Mansarovar package leading to this siyah, or sacred site.

Most participants in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra must be between the ages of 12 and 70. Children younger than 12, and adults who are older than 70 may also be able to apply to go on the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. However, they will need to have written medical clearance from a physician, and they must travel with family members. The most important factor when determining Kailash Mansarovar Yatra health requirements is physical condition rather than age. All pilgrims will be required to provide a medical certificate confirming their physical fitness for trekking at high altitude above 5,000 meters on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
The general upper-age limit for Indian pilgrims, which most travel and permit agencies have adopted, is 70 years old. It's a tough Kailash Yatra. It demands extreme physical exertion at high altitude. And children generally need to be about 12 or older to safely handle the strenuous aspects of the Kailash Mansarovar trip. Don't underestimate what the trail asks of you.
There are no strict written Kailash Mansarovar Yatra age limit requirements from the Tibetan tourism authorities. But there are medical and physical considerations for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. These apply to anyone above 70 or below 12. A person's age won't be a barrier to taking the Kailash Yatra. But they'll need the written approval of a qualified physician confirming Kailash Yatra medical fitness. They'll also need to travel with family members and meet all Kailash Mansarovar Yatra health requirements. If you tick those boxes, you don't have to let age hold you back.
Kailash Yatra medical fitness and a medical clearance are a must for all participating in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, no matter what age you are. This is due to the long-distance drives, high-altitude passes on the Kailash Mansarovar route, and strenuous Kailash trekking through low-oxygen areas. Altitude sickness on Kailash is a real risk above 4,500 meters your doctor must confirm you are physically prepared for altitude sickness Kailash conditions before your departure.
No, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in 3 days or 5 days is simply not possible. Here's why the Tibet Travel Permit and Chinese Group Visa processing alone takes a minimum of 4 days in Kathmandu before you even set foot in Tibet. So completing the entire yatra in 3 or 5 days is completely out of the question.
The minimum time required inside Tibet is 7 days, and even that is considered a very tight schedule. The Kailash Parikrama (the sacred 52 km circumambulation around Mount Kailash) itself takes 3 days minimum one day for each of the three stages of the kora. Add to that travel time from the Nepal-Tibet border to Darchen, a day at Lake Mansarovar, and the return journey and you quickly understand why 7 days is the bare minimum inside Tibet.
For a comfortable, spiritually fulfilling, and safe Yatra, 14 days inside Tibet is the ideal and most recommended duration. Rushing this sacred journey is neither practical nor advisable.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 application is the first step in joining this holy pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.
In order to apply, you will need a passport that is valid for a minimum of six months from the date of your trip, and you will also need to submit clear scanned copies of your passport as well as two current photographs. Also, keep in mind that you will need to have the Tibet travel permit and any other necessary visa requirements organized by Classic Vacations Nepal, who will be your partner in booking and obtaining the various permits for the journey, ensuring that your yatra package includes all lodging, meals, experienced guides, and other necessary permits.
Due to the competitive nature of places, don't leave it too late. Apply early. Ideally, a couple of months ahead of when you'd like to depart in 2026. That way, your space is secure. And it allows time for any necessary fitness or medical tests. You'll be glad you planned ahead.
Classic Vacations Nepal supports you on the high altitude trek to take the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. We arrange logistics and information before your departure. So you're fully geared up for a spiritually charged pilgrimage. You don't have to figure it out alone.

The trail will continue ascending steadily over rocky and icy ground. You’ll go slowly and gently for breathing and rhythm.
On reaching Dolma La Pass, you can spot many prayer flags and stone cairns at the sacred point. You will pray, and you will feel a sense of monumental accomplishment. Downwards from the pass, it will lead to Zuthul Puk via nearby Gauri Kund, a colorful green turquoise lake having a lot of spiritual importance.
The way down is a bit of a stamina tester, but the surrounding views will keep you going. By late afternoon, you will arrive in Zuthul Puk and take a short rest. You will then return to your hotel, have dinner, and retire after completing the sacred circumference of Mt. Kailash.

You will arrive in Kerung around midday and continue towards the Nepal–Tibet border. You will enter Nepal after completing immigration and customs formalities. The landscape will change dramatically, from arid upland to lush hills, rivers, forests, and terraced fields.

Breakfast
Meals during your Himalaya Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are all about nourishment and energy. This matters most at higher elevations. Full provision of all food and fluids is included as part of your Yatra. It starts from Kathmandu in Nepal and ends at the return point in Tibet. You don't have to think about where your next meal is coming from.
In Kathmandu, you'll begin with a Warm Welcome Supper. It's at one of Nepal's finest restaurants. And you'll finish with a Farewell Dinner at one of the most popular and critically acclaimed multi-cultural restaurants in the Thamel area. Your hotel accommodation is on a MAP basis. So breakfast and supper are included every day while you're in Kathmandu. But lunch in Kathmandu is not included in your package. You'll cover that one on your own. It's a good chance to explore the local spots at your own pace.
All meals are provided free of charge while in Tibet during the Kailash Yatra. That includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and snacks. You don't have to spend a rupee on food out there.
For private group departures, you'll have a dedicated Nepali cook and support staff. Meals are based on the nutritional requirements of trekkers and pilgrims hiking at higher altitudes. So you'll be eating what your body actually needs. On tough climbing days, you'll be glad someone's thought that through for you.
All meals and beverages will be served throughout the entire journey. That includes hot beverages. So you'll stay hydrated and feel secure while trekking through the higher-altitude sections of the Kailash Mansarovar Route. At altitude, what you drink matters just as much as what you eat. You'll feel the difference.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is best done during the months of May, June, and September when the passes are open, the weather is reasonable, and all lodges along the Kailash Kora route are operational.
Mount Kailash can be reached in several ways based on your preferred mode and convenience. The start of the trip to Kailash Mansarovar takes place in Kathmandu, Nepal, and moves through Tibet until it reaches Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake.
For those wishing to travel quickly, taking a Mount Kailash helicopter tour will be the most convenient option. The Mount Kailash by helicopter ride takes approximately one hour from Kathmandu to the Nepal/China border at Kerung County, which is where the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra begins. This means you will save a minimum of two full days of travelling by road and have an incredible aerial view of the Himalayan Mountains. After arriving in Kerung County, your tour operator will arrange jeeps to continue your trip to Kailash Parvat through Tibet.
The most popular way to travel is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by road, a classic Kailash Mansarovar Yatra overland experience. If you are travelling overland from Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border at Rasuwagadhi, you will be taken by a private Nepali Jeep from Kathmandu to the Kerung Kailash route border crossing. When you reach the Kerung border, you will change from your Nepali Jeep and driver and be picked up by a local Tibetan Jeep and driver who will be your transportation for your entire travel to Kailash Parvat inside Tibet. This means your Sherpa will help you transfer all your luggage and equipment between the two vehicles at the Rasuwagadhi border Kailash crossing.
From Kerung, you will continue on the road to Kailash Mansarovar via Jeep to Darchen, which is the starting point for the trek up Mount Kailash. This cost is normally included in all Kailash Mansarovar tour packages. However, if you decide to travel separately from the group, there might be an additional fee generally between CN¥2,500 and CN¥3,500 for the group divided by the number of travelers.
All driver expenses throughout the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by road trip including fuel, accommodation and daily salary are covered in your standard package, making for a smooth and well-supported road to Kailash Mansarovar experience from Kathmandu to Mount Kailash.
To complete your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, you will need several visas and permissions. A Licensed Travel Agent must obtain all Kailash Mansarovar Yatra permits on your behalf. Unlike the MEA Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route, which is managed by the Indian government, the Nepal route allows your tour operator to handle every single permit for you, making the process significantly smoother and faster. The following are the complete permissions and visas required for this journey.
The Tibet Travel Permit is the primary Tibet travel permit for Kailash issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau. It is a requirement for anyone who wants to travel to the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) that they must be processed through a Licensed Tibetan Travel Agent.
In addition to the TTP, if you plan to visit areas outside of Lhasa, including Mount Kailash, an Alien Travel Permit Tibet is required. Your travel agent will arrange for the Alien's Travel Permit through the local Tibetan Government Authorities.
Both the Military and Foreign Affairs permissions are mandatory for your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra permits package, as Mount Kailash and Mansarovar are located in sensitive border areas. The Travel Agent will facilitate obtaining both Military and Foreign Affairs permissions for your trip to Kailash Mansarovar.
The Chinese Group Visa for Kailash is required by all foreigners who are not Indian citizens. The processing of the Chinese Group Visa Kailash will take 2–3 business days. As part of this process, you must submit biometric fingerprint information along with an 11-page application form to the Chinese Embassy, Consulate, or China Visa Center.
The Kailash Parikrama permit is a specific permit required for completing the sacred 52 km kora circuit around Mount Kailash. This is arranged by your tour operator as part of your complete Kailash Mansarovar Yatra permits package.
An Indian citizen wishing to travel through the India-China overland border must have an Inner Line Permit issued by the Indian Government. Note that Indian pilgrims joining the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Nepal via the Kerung border do not require the MEA Kailash Mansarovar Yatra lottery process, making the Nepal route a faster and more flexible option.
It takes approximately 20 business days from the day an application is submitted until you receive all required Kailash Mansarovar Yatra permits to enter Tibet. The Tibet travel permit Kailash fee is 60 Renminbi (CNY). The Alien Travel Permit, Tibet, Foreign Affairs, and Military permits cost approximately $90.00 USD each.
