Everest Region is in the northern part of Nepal, lies in Sagarmatha National Park. Locally known as Solu Khumbu or Khumbu, it is home of the most prominent Himalayas, including Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumari, Cho Oyu etc. Everest Region is home of Sherpa peoples, native to high altitude mountain region of Nepal, is famous for their skill in climbing Himalayas.

Everest Region is in the northeastern part of Nepal at the footstep of Mt. Everest- The highest mountain on earth. Everest Region is part of the Himalayan Range, a mountain range in Asia that starts from Afghanistan, then to Pakistan, India, China, Nepal & ends at Bhutan.
How to Get into the Everest Region?
It has two major ways to reach the Everest Region, By flight and By road. We could directly fly from Kathmandu to Lukla or from Rameshap to Lukla by regular plane flights. It takes about 30-35 min flight to reach Lukla from Kathmandu Domestic Airport and 20 min to reach from Rameshap airport. We could also fly to Lukla or to Namche or any other place in the region directly by chartered Helicopter flight from Kathmandu. Going by road, we could drive to Jiri in 9-10 hours and trek to Lukla for a week or drive to Phaplu from Kathmandu in 8-9 hours, then trek to Lukla for 3 days. Phaplu has seasonal flights from Kathmandu, almost 3 flights in a week, operated by Nepal airlines and Tara air.
Lukla is the main gateway to all the major trekking and mountaineering in Everest Region. It takes two days to reach Namche from Lukla, and a one week trek to reach Everest Base Camp from Lukla.
When is the best time to trek to Everest Region?
March, April & May in Spring Months, and September, October & November in Autumn months are the best months to trek in Everest Region. These months will usually have clear weather, blue skies, excellent visibility and pleasant temperature. December is also considered a good month to travel, but gets colder due to winter, but the trail will be less crowded.
